Make a Donation Why Donate? One hundred percent of the money you donate to our trusts in the UK or the USA comes directly to the Institute for Rural Health Studies. The trustees receive no payment for their work. Even the chartered accountant who audits the UK trust is a volunteer and so is the legal professional who oversees the trust in the USA. Money that you donate can go further than you think. IRHS uses modern management tools to be cost-effective. On three occasions IRHS has hosted volunteer financial and management consultants from the UK and Germany for 2-3 months each, including one from McKinsey & company. They have ensured that IRHS uses modern systems to make us cost-effective. IRHS paramedics are experienced and trained by volunteer doctors. They can treat up to ninety per cent of the cases they see; only those who require secondary or tertiary level care are referred to city hospitals. You can be certain that the money you donate will go to those who need it. Our village clinics provide medicine and tests for an affordable fee. IRHS uses low cost generic medicine and a sophisticated drug tracking programme. The distribution of medicine is therefore efficient, reaches the patient and is made accessible to all. IRHS uses methods of preventative care to avoid patients losing their lives and accruing high medical costs. To combat cervical cancer, the no. 1 killer of Indian women, trained IRHS nurses use an innovative and inexpensive screening method. This allows us to detect and treat cancer in the early or precancerous stages. Your money can help stop women losing their lives to an easily preventable disease. While the majority of IRHS patients go to government hospitals, a significant number of outstanding private hospitals offer IRHS patients free services, waving fees for out patient visits and tests including radiology. Patient counsellors are experienced and have expert knowledge of both the policies and procedures in all hospitals used by IRHS, thus ensuring any money going towards a patient's care is used properly.
