Institute for Rural Health Studies Board of Directors

IRHS is run as a government registered charitable society and managed by a board of directors. Board members contribute their individual professions and skills to the running of IRHS and are committed to achieving the highest standards of appropriate governance.

The unpaid board of directors consists of a chairperson and seven members of the board. Key paid IRHS staff serve ex-officio.

 


Chairperson

Dr. K. Shanthi Naidu
MBBS, MD Head Laboratory Medicine and Biochemist, Care Hospitals

Dr.Shanthi Naidu K is a Consultant in Laboratory Medicine with vast experience in many areas of diagnostics. Having specialised as a Medical Biochemist (Clinical Chemistry) from Madras Medical College, Dr. Shanthi served in Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology Bangalore, NIMS and is currently with CARE Hospitals, Hyderabad. She is widely published in international, peer-reviewed journals. Her commitment to patient care is a well known fact and always a helping hand in the cause. She is respected as a teacher and mentor and has years of experience in various capacities as an administrator. She is known to be a fun loving, reliable and trusted friend.


Board Members

Dr. Mahtab Bamji
MSc, PhD 

Dr. Mahtab Bamji is a former Director-Grade Scientist of the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) and a leading scientist in the field of nutrition. Dr. Mahtab’s work has focused on providing support to the lives of marginalised, rural communities with a focus on women, children and farmers. Through her vast experience and extensive work, Dr. Mahtab has won countless awards and accolades, she is a Legend of the International Union of Nutritional Sciences (IUNS), ICMR Emeritus Scientist and Honorary Scientist of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), to mention just a few. Dr. Mahtab has been with IRHS since the very beginning in 1981. She has provided her invaluable experience over the years and has supported IRHS in different initiatives such as our mother and child nutrition programme. Dr. Mahtab continues to conduct research and publish papers and is also a Board Member of the Dangori Charitable Trust.

Mr. V. Jawahar
B.Com. (Hon's), FCA, Grad.: CWA, ISA, CISA (USA), CISSP (USA), CISM (USA) Chartered Accountant, Jawahar and Associates

With decades of experience behind him, Mr. Jawahar is a Hyderabad based chartered accountant. He has countless qualifications and is Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Security Manager (CISM) by the Information Systems Audit and also Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)2 as well as being a member of the Indian Council of Arbitration and the IT Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Mr. Jawahar is the founding Sole Proprietor of Jawahar and Associates. Today, Jawahar and Associates has grown to include eight partners. In addition to his work with Jawahar and Associates, Mr. Jawahar is an Executive Coach with Leadership Education, training business leaders in various aspects of leadership. Having been with IRHS since 2006, Mr. Jawahar guides IRHS on financial and accounting matters and provides an additional lens to our yearly financial returns.

Dr. Rangana Sarma Duvvuri
MBBS 

A doctor from NRS Medical College, Kolkata, Dr. Rangana has almost four decades of experience as a practising physician and leading medical organisations such as RK Mission Hospital, Gandhi Medical College and Essential Medical Services, Hyderabad. For almost a decade, she was the Medical Superintendent at Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad and later the Chief Medical Administrator at Prathima Institute of Medical Sciences. Today, she is a Founding Member at Medium, a healthcare strategy and consulting firm. Dr. Rangana also volunteers at Asha Hospital supporting free surgeries for birth disabilities. Dr. Rangana has been with IRHS since 2014 helping to connect IRHS to specialised doctors and services

Mrs. Nandita Sen
Social Activist

Mrs. Nandita is a well-known social activist in the NGO circles of Hyderabad. The former Chairperson of Sivananda Rehabilitation Home, Mrs. Nandita has vast experience spanning nearly six decades. She holds social causes close to heart and is active in encouraging IAS officers to support social causes. Previously, she was a vital member of the Village Reconstruction Organisation supporting structurally weak, impoverished, unregistered villages in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. She has been with IRHS since 2014 as a central member of the board, bringing new ideas and assisting with governance.

Mr. Md. Mujahid Farooqui
BCom Landscaper and proprietor: Deep Woods

The CEO of Deepwoods, Mr. Mujahid has expertise in designing and executing landscapes for resorts, hotels and clubs. Mr. Mujahid has implemented projects for leading businesses such as Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, Cafe Coffee Day to Hyderabad’s Secunderabad Club and the Nizam’s Club. Mr. Mujahid is a philanthropic person who raises awareness of IRHS’ work and regularly supports patients to access our services.

Mrs. Mukti Bosco
BOT, MHA Co-Founder and Secretary General,
Healing Fields Foundation

Mrs. Mukti Bosco is the co-founder of Healing Fields, an NGO supporting access to and quality healthcare for all. Mrs. Mukti has over two decades of experience working in NGOs. She began her career working in community health and empowerment by developing one of the first micro-insurance schemes in India that has expanded to include education, health services and livelihood development. Today, Mukti leads a preventative health education programme that reaches over 6 million families. Mukti has been a Board Member with IRHS since 2015 and brings her expertise in navigating the NGO governance system in India.
